Ockenden Review Into Nottingham Maternity Services Published
The long awaited final report of the Ockenden review into maternity services at Nottingham, has been published today.
Whilst this report concerns specifically Nothingham materntiy services, it is likely that the fidings would be replicated in so many other hospitals across England.
With the intention to close Liverpool Women's Hsopital now subjected to a dishonest public engagement were the full facts are being hidden from the public along with the intention to close the hospital; women across Merseyside will be concerned that maternity services under the Cheshire and Merseeyside Integrated Care Board; will inevitably lead to women being treated at overcrowded and inadequately staffed hospitaals across Liverpool.

In response to the interim report from Baroness Amos, the Save Liverpool Women’s Hospital campaign spokesperson, Felicity Dowling said:
“At the heart of our campaign, and of other such campaigns around the country, is the wish to make Maternity a healthier and happier experience for mothers and babies. We mourn those whose lives have been lost, we send sympathy to those who have been injured, physically, mentally, or emotionally, to those caring for injured babies and children and those who have been bereaved. We also care for the staff who have been worn out trying to make an under-resourced service as safe as it can be. But the service must be improved.”
Commenting on a campaign to reduce midwives’ working hours, Gill Walton, Chief Executive of the RCM, said:
“Midwives and maternity support workers are facing extreme pressures and as this campaign highlights, they are exhausted, overstretched and working in unsustainable conditions.
